IPH join 'Accredited Laboratory' elite of ASTA BEAB01/02/2005| | | | |
ASTA BEAB Certification Services has announced the accreditation of the largest German Independent High Power Test Laboratory, in Berlin. IPH gained the prized ASTA BEAB accreditation to test both High and Low Voltage equipment, after a rigorous accreditation process.
The recent closure of some well-equipped test facilities in the UK has limited the test choices for manufacturers looking for testing services. To compensate for this reduced capacity, ASTA BEAB has been actively developing its accredited laboratory network. Their aim was to give manufacturers more choice of proven test facilities with the most specialist of skills, to make the process of achieving electrical product certification easier.
With certification services for both the electrical transmission & distribution industry and the electrical domestic product arena, it was important to ASTA BEAB to specifically improve access to test facilities that could provide services for both areas, in Europe.
Laboratory Development Manager Pat Gibbons said: "We are delighted that IPH have achieved Accreditation and are now working with us as a specialist test laboratory. They have a distinguished reputation within the international test community and their availability will give more choice to our clients seeking testing services. IPH have had a programme of large investment to develop and extend their testing capabilities, so they were a natural choice to consider for accreditation. They were already the European market leader for DC testing so we knew they had the expertise and the facilities to deal with a range of diverse projects for us. We're delighted to have them on board"
About IPH:
IPH is an Independent and Accredited International Test Laboratory, which was formed in 1956 as Institute "Prüffeld für elektrische Hochleistungstechnik". Its team of highly qualified engineers and specialists is active in the field of product tests, R&D tests, safety tests and quality tests - performed on almost every electrical product, among them transformers, switches, fuses, switchgear and cables. IPH conducts tests in the ranges of high voltage up to 400 kV, medium voltage up to 72 kV and low voltage up to 1000 Volt.
IPH has its own calibration laboratory, used in particular for the calibration for high voltage up to 200 kV and of current up to 200 kA - a service only offered by a few laboratories in Europe. The Laboratories of IPH have also experience in carrying out tests in the range of low-voltage switchgear and low-voltage protection equipment.
IPH also performs practical training programs on industrial safety and precautionary measures during the operation of electrical equipment.
